Add a local Air Quality Sensor

That’s hilarious. I can’t imagine what ours would do if I set the wake word to what it might hear when we have the Phillies or Eagles on TV :astonished:

I did a little test with a vanilla kindle-8 and it successfully loads my Home Assistant tileboard screen and my weewx Belchertown skin, so you have me thinking about this again. Are you running Chrome or Silk as the browser ? How’d you get the kindle into kiosk mode and (perhaps) change the resolution of the browser window ? The blasted Kindle interface just drives me crazy trying to figure out.

(although my Paperwhite is fabulous for its primary goal of ebooks)

Fully Kiosk Browser is your friend. I don’t know if there’s a Kindle version, but there’s an Android version in the Google Play Store as well as a .APK download link on the Fully web site to download an Amazon Fire-specific version. The free version has all of the features to view Belchertown. No need to pay for the advanced version’s features, unless Home Assistant has the ability to use the extras like sending voice announcements to Fully. Hubitat does…

The Amazon device posted earlier is an indoor sensor. I’m most interested in an “outdoor” air quality sensor.

IMHO a new sensor product is not needed - Purple Air (and others) have it covered, but my interest is in creating a single source of information for our senior community. Third party weather apps don’t quite seem to make the grade, whereas a simple extra optional card to display info from a nearby Purple Air Monitor would do the trick.

WF doesn’t have to be the single source of all possible data from competitor’s gear. There are many already out there including PA, WU, PWS, CWOP, and others that are hardware-agnostic.

Have you tried Home Assistant?
I have my Purple Air, Tempest, and many many other things displayed. With nginx I (and the wife) have access on my phone when I am out and about. If there is a loss of internet or power (generator), I’m still covered inside my own network due to most everything being locally sourced (ie local API).

I use the sensor from www.aerocount.nl and one from www.hackair.eu
