# Hail, wow does it effect the sensor?

Had quite a bit of hail tonight, wondering how that affects the sensor, will it damage it?

Probably not from typical hail, but I have seen midwest USA t-storms blow the windows out of cars and make them dimpled like giant golf balls.

As I have pointed out on numerous past occasions, you bought a weather station. The most honorable death for any PWS is to get destroyed trying to capture/record a severe weather event!

Let me throw in a disclaimer that the WF hardware does not claim to measure hail/sleet/snow accumulation, so the precipitation measurements may be a moot point in a hail storm…

5mm hail did not damage mine but wow did it record an erroneously large amount of rain.
