NEW Hub Is Avail.... reviving "Option to dim Hub’s LED and/or turn off"

Hello I would like to revisit the ability to dim the LED on the hub. You guys have now released v2 of the hub (cute purple one) and I still do not see that option available. I did go through the forum and I see that Staff was mentioning it was a resistor they used on the v1 that made it impossible. BUT that in v2 that would be changed and allow the ability to Dim or turn off the LED’s

Any updates on when this feature will come to the a firmware update? OR for some reason where non-dimming LED’s used again… if so Why?

My wife cannot sleep with the hub LED’s so she want to throw her nightgown over so she can sleep, which makes the hub get really hot by morning (which is never good for electronics).

Please address this issue! While elect tape does work it looks like crap. I did get some white Elect Tape and it took 7 layers of tape to dim it down… App dimmability would be awesome!!!

see Amazon.com : light dim stickers for a variety of stickers in various thicknesses that work great. But yes. The blue LEDs are especially annoying. I had to put these over some indicators in my car or I lose my night vision when I have the high beams on.

I used some light diffusion tape product I found online. not sure if I’m allowed to link to products though. Use Google

Have you been checked for cataracts recently? This is a symptom.

Also, I’m having a hard time buying that it took 7 layers of vinyl electrical tape to dim the old Hub’s over-bright LED. It’s not a helium-cooled laser…

yeah - that’s in my future for sure but the blue LEDs have been an issue back to when I bought the Nissan Altima in 2013…

I just ordered the Stickers from Amazon to Dim the LED’s… might look nicer than than the Elect Tape.

@dsj Tempest Staff - Any update on the comment y’all made back in 2020 that the next version of Hub would have that feature baked in?

It’s great when people bring-up subtle enhancements that dramatically improve the user-experience, this is one of those ideas.

I will design and publish an *.stl file for people to 3d print a physical cover that clips onto the hub. We would post it here and on Thingiverse.com.

I would print mine in PURPLE.

If users hate it, then send me a bill for the hub. :slight_smile:
