Tempest'26 two+ week review and comparison (long)

. . .and to kinda /sorta follow @vinceskahan footsteps a little bit . . While the Tempest° '26 sensor device is a new member of the “family”. . .lest we not forget about the App.

Improvements in the App have been made since our “Field Tester” days of late 2019 into early 2020. . .but one thing is still missing from the App! It is an item that the “other guys” have had included in their App for Years! What item is that? It’s the Time of Occurrence of the Daily maxes and mins.

Why doesn’t the present day App include the times? In the History tab. . .the Day only shows the Max and Min for Temperature; RH; Sea Level Pressure. . .and the Max wind gust.

Under the Week; Month; Year and All Time. . .the “Date of Occurrence” is posted beneath the respective parameter. . .yet to this day. . .after 6 years of App. . .the Daily still has no Times pinned beneath those Maxes and Mins. A high and low temperature that occurs each day is nice. . .but wouldn’t it convey much more “value-added” data if that High and Low had a Time of Occurrence associated with it? Meteorologists everywhere (TV, Radio, Private Sector, NWS etc) all need to have the times that phenomena occurred. Consider this example: TORNADO 2 miles west of Ploutground. Well, okay, but WHEN did it occur?

How about this: TORNADO 2 miles west of Ploutground.reported at 1:56 PM.

See how valuable that report adds valued information? It tells the parameter, where it was located and what time it occurred.

Tempest° data is just as important as the tornado report example above. . .except Tempest° doesn’t include what time the parameters it measures occurred.

The only way to get the Times for Highs and Lows for Tempest° parameters is to do it the Hard Way! That is go into the graph for each of the parameters and Hunt Down that parameter to see WHEN it occurred. This is very a very Time-Consuming process. . .especially for those of us who have more than one Tempest° device to keep archived weather records for.

Again. . .the “other guys” have been putting times of occurrence on their products for several decades now!

Want to make Tempest" the Best it has Ever Been? Just add the times! That will make Tempest° Everybody’s Favorite Weather Station!
