Auto calibration is based on location, not timezone.

Hi @wpns, if the console works with ‘Etc/GMT+4’, then it is probably best to initially ask WF to change your timezone on their servers to that as well. That way you won’t need to manually change the .ini file. If they can’t though, I can always put a special flag in that will convert ‘SystemV/AST4’ to ‘Etc/GMT+4’ for use in the console. Let me know what works best.

@eric, great spot re. the instructions regarding the service file. Thanks very much! I had completely overlooked that. I will update the README now. Hopefully I won’t be changing the file names again…

@Ken, glad to hear you have managed to get the console running. This is the first piece of software I have ever developed, so we can all learn together!

The Joy of software support. Timezone support is next on my list. Reviewing a remote site needs to display the time at that site.

I agree completely! I wish it was something WF fixed in the app/web…

The timezone may have to be a field option. Using latitude and longitude has it’s own issues.

Here’s my finished console. Really fun project!
Thank you to Peter for all the work.

That looks great. Glad you enjoyed putting it all together :grinning:

@peter
could it be that the 2 color dots are inverted between air and sky ??
The sky is low on batteries but the dot from air is red …

also the Darksky forecast is a bit weird for some. I’m metric and the forecast is correct for my place except it is imperial … I read somewhere you can change that is the api call. It would be an improvement for a future version to be able to toggle according use via a switch ???

Hi @eric. I’ll check out the status dots. It does look like they might be switched.

The DarkSky forecast behaviour sounds a bit weird. It should always be downloaded from the API call in metric, and then converted automatically into imperial based on the users choice of units. Can you have a go changing the temperature and wind speed units in the settings screen and let me know what happens? The forecast should units be updated immediately, whilst the actual observation units should change when the next websocket message arrives.

I wasn’t clear enough in my explanation
here 2 pics explaining what I mean, changing units doesn’t change the text forecast while the rest adapts

@peter
I found a small error: the air pressure scale has 1050hPa at the bottom and 950hPa at the top…
The sotware works fine :blush:

I didn’t have any problems with the autostart, I just did the update and then reboot and everything worked fine (via ssh)

@peter

updated to 2.0 on both of my wfpiconsole builds (7" Rpi touch screen & HDMI 800x600).

On the 7" Rpi Screen I’m seeing an intermittent update refresh of the graphic images (flashing on/off) on the Sun|Moon & Wind Speed | Direction & Barometer squares.

This seems to happen during the live update to parameter changes - so ‘Wind’ it happens often, the others not so much. It doesn’t happen all the time during updates - but often.

When I update (to a new ver #) I create ‘new’ folders for the install (wfpisonsole18, wfpiconsole20 ,etc…)so I can always go back to previous versions … When I run ver. 1.8 I don’t have this issue.

The HDMI setup is working fine as previous versions.

EDIT( keep in mind that all the graphics and images load clean and display. These screenshots are the intermittent view (above) )

EDIT2( the rain rate graphic is always perfect – and it is raining currently)

EDIT3 (running Pi Model 3B V1.2 on the 7" — Pi Model 2B V1.1 on the HDMI)

EDIT4( The issue seems to have stopped? working smoothly now for the last 15mins…)

EDIT5( It’s back just not as often. ?? I thought perhaps it was related to when is was raining, but it doesn’t seem to be related.)

…i think there are some graphics missing on the Raspberry
i had this problem with v1.8

Hi all, thanks for the various bug reports.

@eric, I have checked out the status icons, and they are definitely mapping to the correct sensor. They also don’t have a battery trigger, only a time trigger since the last observation. I’ll add the battery trigger for the next release. I have been trying to test your station, but I think your Sky module might be up the creek? It doesn’t seem to be providing any wind data.

I get what you mean now re. the forecast. I will update this in the next release.

@patrick.mussner good spot re. the pressure scale. I definitely had that the wrong way around. All fixed now and I will push the change in the next release.

@tcichowicz hmmmmm, this one is interesting. It is definitely a graphics issue. Either the graphic files are missing, or the data is not being converted into the required graphic file name correctly. I have been running your station on my Pi for a little while and haven’t seen the same issues. Can you start by re-downloading the latest version and checking if that solves the issue? If not we’ll have to dig a little deeper.

Indeed that sky is under voltage so it stops reporting wind etc, just rain. Waiting for a solar panel to come :sunglasses:… a set of batteries just holds about 10 weeks. Using rechargeables but they go quickly to low. Not a solution neither. If you want to test use device 11108 (production version that I don’t like wind wise as it has a cutoff for low winds)

Will do when I get a chance (re-download and re-install from scratch)… the problem seems to come and go. right now it’s acting perfectly! When it starts to act up it seems to be limited to the ‘Wind’ section. I’ve got Heavy Rain at the moment; and all is well.

OK, let me know how you get on. I’ll keep running your station for a little while here and see if I spot anything.

I can’t find device 11108 on your station. Is it associated with station ID 3531? It was just to try and recreate the issue you had with the status icons. I haven’t had any luck recreating it, so hopefully it was just an annoying glitch!

OK, all set - WOW would have done it sooner if I knew it would be so easy!

up and running … so far so good. I’ll keep an eye on it for a few days and be sure and report back if it re-appears.

Thanks again for your work on this Peter. I always look forward to the next release.

nope, it is linked to hub 3695
