Erroneous Wind Gusts and False Rain Reports?

FWIW, when I “emptied” my Tempest this morning there was a lake of water. I mean almost the whole bottom was in the puddle. I’ll take a closer look at mine a little later to see if I see anything obvious.

What if there was a slight tilt, like maybe only 1mm difference between opposite sides? Assuming the plate isn’t concave.

David, you are fine. We all get rushed and terse at times.

I finally got a chance to look at my Tempest. It looks like the bottom plate is flat.

Interesting. It must have been exactly level to build up so much water and not have it roll or blow off. Of course, it could have been due to the pollen and stuff you mentioned. Since they started to put that coating on the SKYs and now Tempest I have not seen the strange wind readings like I used to. That isn’t to say it never will happen.

How windy was it after the downpours? If it was calm that could be one reason.

The wind looks like it was very light after the last downpour and I think the Tempest is level. It is temporary mounted on top of a railing post on my deck.

Now if I can only figure out how to remove the sticky pollen on the Tempest without damaging the coating…

Maybe it will dry out in the heat and you could try a can of compressed air to blow it out? Unless canned air is potentially bad.

The pollen was dried on to the surface. This happens every late spring/early summer in this part of NE. The trees go crazy releasing pollen into the air. Cars (and everything else outside) end up with a green gunk coating that dries to a dark crud.

I was able to get most of the dried on pollen off this morning by carefully rubbing with wet Q-tips and tissue. I guess this will be a yearly maintenance ritual in the early summer. :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow that must suck. We just have a few trees that do that and none anywhere near us. Our main thing is the winged seeds that fall and create a mess but don’t stick to any thing. They just need raked up. Pollen falling must really mess with cars.

I’ve been using a spray bottle to spray water in the wind gap to clean it up. I’ve noticed that the coating doesn’t shed the water well unless you have a good breeze blowing the puddles out of the wind gap. Not sure what the best solution to this problem would be though.
