where I live (northernd part of the netherlands) the difference in solar power generated between december and june is about a factor 10. How are these holding up on long periods of clouds in december when the days are short and the sun is low? Or when snow in covering the panels for weeks.(at this angle it might slide off, but I’m not sure if that is always the case). Just wondering.
Now that we can discuss the Solar Panel I am happy to say the unit performs well.
I watched the unit keep the battery charged when covered with snow during a snow storm. The battery will last several weeks even in complete darkness.
This device, along with future enhancements gets an A÷ for use and reliability.

WF stated that they think the solar’s battery is good for up to a month approximately, although I’m not aware that anybody has verified that

It has been more than verified. There was a prototype that ran for six weeks with the solar cell disconnected, and it was still reading 3.27 volts when the test was terminated to take it back to the lab.
Seriously though, what has become of my life if my only form of entertainment is watching a battery graph dip from 1,100+ miles away???

To add more to take away any concern about battery life, that little panel does a terrific job

Even during a dull grey day, it charges … even covered with snow and the sun peaks out, it charges …
We have a test topic with more then 500 posts basically to say, “it works” and there is nothing to test … just see the V graph go up and down … we even said it was the most boring testing we did.

I’ll be moving mine to a better location once I don’t have to take it down to replace the batteries. It will have much better exposure to the wind at that time.

My beta SOL unit is running a dark test.
I covered the solar panel more then 2 weeks ago totally and the battey voltage is still ~3.33 V … at a sky wich operates in fast, non power saving mode. Awesome.
This is even seen from today’s point of view a outstanding performance.
Even in case some leave 
or birds shit 
(or combination 
) will cover the panel the operation of the Sky wil be secured.
WF plans to implement a detection for those cases and give a warning to the user in case of. Perfect !

Don’t know about anybody else, but I’ve got my test unit that is still working perfectly, and nobody is taking it away from me lol. It’s mine, precious mine :)

I’m glad you made this Golem meme because last night when I read that @cotedan used the word “precious”, Golem immediately popped in my head. I know I personally enjoy seeing and having the Solar Panel Accessory on my SKY.
