Theoretical UV calculation tool

looks possible though I’m having 7.5 for now, extremely hot but like a little milky sky … max today was 9.5 for now

@eric
Try that again, please

We have gotten way off topic. Maybe it’s time to split this?

yep

@btst.online : maybe edit the first post to make it a little cleaner once done and include the links etc

Another site with approx UV index per hour, for comparison. Just search your own city.

https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/sudbury/p3c/hourly-weather-forecast/49544?day=2

Not 100%… but definitely a work in progress.
Once I add in the ‘crowd-source’ data, it will get better over time.

Planning on adding in some of that this weekend…
Observed UV, Observed Illumination, Observed Sky State (Full Sun, Partly Cloudy, Mostly Cloudy, etc)

Thanks Sam. Giving me a theoretical max of about 7 here in Ohio for this time of year, seems about right.

All this has made me look more closely at how quickly my replacement Sky is calibrating (day 3, not yet calibrated) and what the regular values for my area are. Thanks for starting us off on a journey towards more goodness !

no calibration yet. Previous days show qite some dips around noon

at our official national weather institute, 52.1, 5.15, at 14.00 they calculate a max of 6.6 (https://www.rivm.nl/zonkracht) yours gives 6.41. Pretty close!

OK, just updated the webpage to allow y’all to submit your observations, and help make this ‘theoretical’ tool more accurate and more useful.

Data to upload will be:
BTST UV (as returned by the web page)
User Observed UV & Illumination
User Lat/Long
User Time Selected
Observed Sky State (Cloudy, Mostly Cloudy, etc)

Please feel free to submit your observations when ever you feel like it!

Data collected here will be used in the next version of the btstWx app(s) to make the predicted Sky State more accurate.
Thanks!

one question comes to mind… do you want uncalibrated versions from our own stations, or do you want values from some official weather agency?

Local observations from YOUR weather station…please.

Sam, think it is weird that your script gives a result when we are night time, maybe add the option to sky state ?

your image doesn’t show as it is http in https (mixed content blocking)

I’ll add in a ‘night’ option to Sky State…

And… oops… forgot to upload the images… should work now.

image problem solved. Waiting for the menu edit

Done… added Day and Night options

what do you need in the field illumination? solar radiation or brightness?

local summer time, I assume.
