Weather forecast for rain

I have had my Tempest Station up for approx 3 months now. The problem I am getting is every day the weather forecast is for rain.
Even the hourly forecast just says next chance of rain is and just shows the next hour and this just continues.
Obviously we do not get rain every day and it has been dry and sunny now for about the last 5 days.

statistics often works strange. The daily prediction is likely always higher than the hourly prediction. Take for example a front that definitely brings rain, but it is unsure if it happens between 09.00 and 10.00 or between 10.00 and 11.00. The hourly prediction could be 50% but the daily prediction 100%. Just the same, if the hourly prediction in your situation is say 10% during the whole day, the daily prediction might be 25%.

I understand what you are saying Sunny, but for example the rest of this afternoon the chance of rain varies between 90% and 65%
The daily forecast was for 90% of rain. The chances are, will be is that there will be no rain.
Although there is some rain forecast in the next couple of days my Tempest has rain likely or rain possible for the next 8 days. As it has done for the majority of days previous.
Remember this was advertised as one of the most accurate Local weather forecasts available, as it gets all the information from the station and has the ability to predict local weather better than TV or Radio.

do you have a link to your station?

Tempest Station Map If it doesn’t take you directly to it I am the one just below Driffield

i can’t see the afternoon data, but currently the prediction on your tempest is dry for the rest of the day. However accuweather predicts occasional rain and drizzle later this day.
For wednesday accuweather has a 25%chance of rain. your tempest only 10%. For thursday accuweather has 84%, tempest has 100%.
It doesn’t seem to far away from accuweather, sometimes it predicts less, sometimes it predicts more.
Weather channel has 60% for today, 40% for tomorrow and 42% for Thursday.
So there seems to be a lot of variance in the predictions. Hard to tell which one is the better one.
Just to make sure, the chance of rain doesn’t predict the amount of rain.

By george. . .I believe I’ve got it – 'ol chap!

If I remember correctly. . .it does get a bit rainy in Good 'ol England this time of year.

So, the forecast is correct then… :grinning:

Thank you for your explanation Sunny. I have a bit more of an understanding now.

You’re welcome. Note that the forecast is basically using one of the global or perhaps national weather forecast with some corrections for your local situation. Those correction should adjust automatically over time.
