ArchiveSW - Display & Data Archive Storage

At the request of a user (you know who you are!), the Panel settings may now be changed without restarting the Panel service. I have only tested this with temperature so feel free to break this @eric.

Wish I was home to test all the latest changes! But I know @eric can break things as as well or even better than I can. I’ll be able to check it all out on Thursday evening. And . . . I don’t have any idea who you are talking about . . .

You will have plenty to test when you return. While I am waiting to hear about Air Density, I am cleaning up the CSS for the page and going through the javascript code. I am waiting on the rain that is being forecast for this area so I can see it that cell is working properly. This is very close to being finished.

Sounds great! I think we are supposed to get some precip from the coastal storm forecast for Friday night until ???. Looking forward to trying out all the new stuff.

Looking great!
Are there any plans to use archived/historical data in the panel?

It currently uses archived data from the current day. It is capable of using any data that is archived.

The current page will only contain today’s data. Additional pages may be added to the Panel.

I uploaded new files for the Panel. I added new items at the request of an aircraft pilot. There is more to come.

Hi Gary,
My Raspberry Pi arrives in a few days time, so I dont know how everything works yet.
To answer your question if people would like a low wind speed alert I will explain my situation.
My friends and I like to know when the wind comes from anywhere between South through South East to North East at an average (Or maximum gust speed because that seems more useful in turbulent situations with the ‘Sky’ due to the quantity of low speed readings reducing the average slightly) speed between 10 and 15 knots. Thats when we drop what we are doing and go paragliding. An alert in this situation might be useful. I guess I might be able to set something up myself? And I guess there will need to be a number of readings/minutes within the required range of speed and direction to lessen spurious alerts. And once an alert is sent it is made quiet for a period of time perhaps even for the rest of that day.
My friends currently use other weather sites which provide these alerts. I just watch the wind.
Summary. You dont need to make this possible as you are doing so much already, I was just answering your question.
cheers Ian

I made more major changes to a few files.

  1. Run updatefiles
  2. Restart Server
  3. Edit Panel in the Server
  4. Restart Archive, Panel

There may be one or two more changes to the config files. I am looking to release the final version on November 1.

do step 3 before 2 because the panel changes will not be saved. Once you restart the services it works.
Why 2 different options for config and panel ?

1 glitch and 1 display perfection

km/h, the number overflows with the last digit, not sure we really need 2 digits in km/h though I can understand it is better to leave it as is, avoid double coding standards… but lower the unit a bit and it’ll be nicer

and here the feels temp … ok we lost quite some the last 24 hours but not to the point it would feel freezing

Why do I sense a long and boring thread de-rail about significant figures is about to occur???

Easy fixes. Not to worry.

Also think the trend in pressure isn’t reacting, it says rapid falling all day now even when

or is trend calculated over a longer period ? Hence from time to time in contradiction with the arrow ? Pressure is falling on a longer stretch … so might just be an interpretation error but others might have the same reaction. If trend is for ex calculated over 24 hours maybe ad it as trend over 24 hours or something ??

The arrow inside the graph indicates the one minute trend. If the value goes up, down or is the same as the last one minute reading the arrow will indicate.

The “Trend” is the official 3 hour trend, except that if the change is 2 points I add “Rapid” to the description.

Still waiting for the “Build an Ark” rain to test the display.

This is now fixed along with a bug I found in the Server Panel screen.

I’ll ask my VN WF when she drags herself out of bed…

A user suggested I add the ability to toggle between different values in each cell. If you tap on the temperature cell, it will cycle the displayed values between F and C.

Pressure would cycle the display between millibars, inches of mercury, millimeters of mercury and hectopascals. Each cell would cycle through that cells measurements.

If this is of interest to you please let me know and I’ll consider adding it.

Several reasons. The biggest is that the Panel configuration can be reloaded on demand. There is no need to send the entire application configuration to the browser and parse all that data.

Another reason is to that there is no need have the Panel configuration when some users may not use the Panel. The Config screen was getting large and crowded.

And since I want this to be modular (as someone suggested to me) each section should have it’s own configuration.
