I have a relatively small back yard. How far above a fence lines would be enough to mostly negate turbulence from the fence? Twice the height of the fence (12’). Or more?
I can put it in a place about 6-8’ away from the fence (horizontally) but how high should I go vertically?

Look up ‘weather station siting guidelines’ on Google for a variety of links and standard answers.
In my view, depends where you want to measure. If you place it 30+ feet high, you’re getting wind from way up there but it says nothing about lower wind currents.
I rather keep it in a clean wind fetch but about 6 feet above my deck - that way I get to know the wind levels on my deck.
Again, depends where you want it to measure …

Thank you both. I appreciate it. cotedan’s comment made meI realize now that I’m not installing a professional station, so I shouldn’t really worry about it. I put it 8’ high on a pole in my yard away from trees, and about 4’ above a fenceline that’s 4’ away. That should suffice nicely.
Looking forward to playing with all the new data!
