My tempest has been in power save mode now for about 5 days voltage is registering 2.33-2.35, it’s been cloudy, first issue I’ve had since it arrived last year. Should I be concerned?
A Power Booster Accessory is in development by WeatherFlow which will take care of that exact issue. Availability is unknown at this time, however. I see your battery level is 2.34v “LOW.” Some have used artificial light. . .like a 2000 to 5000 lumens LED Work Light and place Tempest in front of it for something like 12-18 hours.
Just had a look in more detail, your battery charging versus solar radiation. I’m not 100% sure but I feel it is not charging as it should and drains pretty fast
Open a support ticket and ask if they could have a look mentioning my findings. If confirmed they’ll help you out.
I installed a power booster and filled it with AA cells as advised. The Tempest unit still says 2.13V in power save mode and it’s been a week since I plugged in the power booster. What could be the problem?
Did you use AA alkaline cells? They recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries for best result. If possible. . .the AC power adapter plugged into the Power Booster Accessory works best. Also we’ll need to see the link to your station in order to check to see what Firmware Revision your Tempest device has.
Link will look something like this https: //tempestwx.com/station/137632/grid
. . .where the digits would be Your Station’s ID number.
Try powering off your Tempest and then power it back on and attach to the PBA immediately. IIRC, the Tempest checks for a PBA during boot up.
I got all so a power save mode and later no more power.
I created a support ticket with Tempest.
They saw in their own logging that the power save was much earlier than I knew.
And they did a replacement on my unit. (it was from the Kickstart in 2020)
The new one arrived in the Netherlands within 10 days, so positive for Tempset and their support department.
Did an in-place replacement so all my data remained there.
