The displayed temperature is based on the unit located in direct sunlight (due to solar charging)

Is there a separate estimate of the temperature in the shade as the basis for temperatures displayed? I believe temperatures in most forecasts are based on shade-reading???

Hi @fjk6515 ,

The temperature that the Tempest displays is the air temperature. It measures the temperature inside itself in the shade protected by the plastic fins. It makes some adjustments to allow for the unit being in direct sunlight. The reading the Tempest displays should be the same as if it was in the shade.
I hope this helps
cheers Ian
