Top fell off and cable pulled out

Hi,
My Tempest was blown off in strong winds. The top fell off, and the cable pulled out. I think I can see where it is supposed to come in, but the connection doesn’t seem to unclick and come out. Is this fixable??

That looks like a Tempest Support “Help Item”. Mouse-over SUPPORT in the upper right of this page then mouse-down two items and click on Open a ticket. Copy your post from above and include that as an image attachment. This being a Holiday weekend. . .your request for Support most likely won’t be answered until Tues Sept 3rd.

the connector is not coming off, it just slides open like a drawer, once open just push te cable back in the slot and push close the drawer. But double check the end of the cable, are the little ‘copper’ parts visible that make contact in the connector ?

And if you need more help, as said open a support ticket and they will help you out next week.

The copper part is visible. I don’t understand when you say it slides open like a drawer. I’ve ind=serted the copper part in the slot (not sliding anything open or close) but it doesn’t work. Do you know what part of the cable should be up?

In the Sample shown above. . .what he was referring to is that the flat ribbon cable has an end where little gold-colored metalic ends are showing. The “drawer” referred to is a Port which the end of the ribbon cable plugs in to. You carefully insert the little gold-colored metal ends into the port — the metal ends will face downward as you are looking at it. The “top latch” of the port acts like a “drawer” — when it is open. . .it allows you to plug then metal end back into the port (drawer). Then on top of the port (drawer) you gently push Down to Lock the cable into the port (drawer). That pushed-down latch acts like a “closed drawer” to hold that end of the flat ribbon cable secure. If this doesn’t work. . .as @eric suggested. . .you’ll have to open a support ticket. . .but being a Holiday weekend. . they probably won’t be able to help until Tues Sept 3rd.

Thanks. If you look at my photo, you will see that the connections look different. It seems to slide in from the side, rather than from the top as yours shows.

Yes. . .the large PCB (PrintedCircuitBoard) in the “top cap” has a different layout than the small PCB which resides in the base of the unit. . .which is where the battery (just a large capacitor) is soldered on it. Hope you are able to reconnect the flat ribbon cable…or get help from " t° " support sometime later this week after the Holiday.
