My Tempest is showing erroneous wind information. It’s shows speed at 4-5 mph and gusts of up to 14 mph. I am experiences sustained winds of 15-25 mph. Is there a calibration or update to my unit. It is about a month old. Also rain info is inaccurate.
My Tempest is mounted at the end of my roof gable, unobstructed, approx 28 feet high from the ground.
Thank you

Hey robertlevy54,
welcome to the community.
Would you please provide photo(s) of your install situation and your stations ID to us, so we can tell you specific to your situation?
In general local winds are a very complex and measurements are local at the spot of Tempest’s Head. More details you can find here in the forum in several topics. Meanwhile, you might use the search function.
Will send photos. It is installed on the end of my 2nd story roof, approximately 18” above. It is unobstructed in all directions.

First email did not go through. I sent two photos.
Here is one. About 30’ off the ground and 24” off of the roof. Station ID ST-00000610. In 02554. Tom Nevers, Nantucket, MA.

No one of this is your station ID, please follow the link in my 1st post to determine.

I have done as you asked per your instructions. You have automatically blocked my post as spam. It is not. I am asking for help. Can you please help? So far, not a great experience with tempest and support.

You posted twice but don’t worry. Your station id is 28383.
It is the automatic anti spam system from forum that kicked in. I just released a few things.
Regarding wind, your station is the first one, the two others are taken from the island you live … and as you can see the gusts are similar though not identical since you are a few miles apart and the setup is for sure not identical.
I’m pretty sure it reads wind correct. Remember this device is very sensitive to wind and that wind speed varies very quickly with hight. What can seem calm groud level isn’t at all 5 meters higher (especially on an island)
regarding rain, can’t say you had many and all stations are in the same range. Again you can’t compare spot numers as that also can vary with just 1 mile between. It’s rather average you can compare and again, all stations are close.
Thank you. If all stations are showing similar data, I guess that is good. We were experiencing very high gusts and sustained winds, and it seemed as though they were more than what we were reading. Also, the weather apps were showing much higher winds than what the Tempest was showing.

Same issue here. Winds overnight very heavy (20-30 mph) and the Tempest reads 4mp and gusts of 8mph. Placement of unit good (not great), but it doesn’t seem to read wind very well. My friend has the same issue in a different city.
Same issue here. I had wind sustained at over 40 mph and gusts yesterday of of 55 mph and it showed highest gust of 9mph.
Yep, yet they continue to tell you it reads wind very accurately. I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that the wind and rain data is a very general approximation of actual and leave it at that.
Still noticing this on my newer Tempest as well with the higher wind gust above 15 to 20mph.
