I have an older Air device and I want to add it as a 2nd sensor to use with my tempest. When I got stations and select Add a Device using the + symbol it starts searching but it seems to only be looking for Tempest devices and it doesn’t see the Air even though it’s green LED or if I press and hold the led button until it fast blinks?
You do need to hold the button until it fast blinks to reset it. Make sure you are near the hub and AIR sensor while you pair it. I’ve paired AIRs to several different hubs and haven’t had an issue except maybe telling the app to try again. I usually use my Android phone rather than my iPad to set up my Tempest stuff.
i don’t know about new zealand, but here I need two different hubs because the radio that came with the tempest isn’t compatible with the old air one. But different regions have different radios, so it might be different in your case.
@sunny might be right. I didn’t even consider that there was a frequency change, at least in Australia, IIRC, between the old SKY & AIR system to the Tempest system. You may need your old hub to get it working if NZ did the same thing.
The frequencies are generally by ITU regions, and the antipodes are in the same one IIRC…
Air, Sky or Tempests in New Zealand and Australia use 915Mhz same as USA. Some discussion here and also some where else I couldnt find immediately.

Good idea,
I have installed an Air under my Tempest to measure the temperature of the wind up the pole due to how different the Tempest temperature is to my Air in the Stevenson screen.
I made a tube from a down pipe at an angle to hopefully move the air through the pipe past the Air.
Yes they are all different temperature readings for several reasons as discussed elsewhere.
I do like now having an extra Air up the pole as well as in the screen lower in the garden.
edit added:
Link to my Air in the Stevenson screen and the Air up the pole:
With my testing of Tempest temperatures I discovered several reasons for differences but what I had not considered prior to my tests was that if the breeze blows slowly past the sunny side of the screen it is warmer than if the wind blows from the shady side. So I now suspect the Air up the pole may be more accurate but of course it is different air up there dependent on the temperature lapse rate and how still it is in the garden.
cheers Ian
Yeah, I can’t figure out what’s going on. It feels like an issue with iOS app more than the hub. Especially because when I select add a device, the very first thing it asks for is to power up and turn on my Tempest (which is already connected). I don’t want to delete or remove the tempest and lose all the data, though. Not sure how to get it to work. I’m pretty sure it’s all the same frequency because even though I’m in New Zealand, all my various WeatherFlow/Tempest devices were shipped to me from the USA.
I have had that issue in the past when using my iPad to set up WF/Tempest gear. My Android phone worked in those cases. If you don’t have an Android device, maybe a friend has one you can try. Just delete the app when you get it working.
In Europe, New Zealand and Australia, old Air and Sky devices are not compatible with the newer Tempest hubs due to a radio incompatibility. There are some more details in an old thread here:
