Setting up the website:
This is fantastic! Can’t wait for the official release of this. Happy to test if you need any more for beta.
WeatherBox Demos are running on:
RPi Zero W:
RPi 3B+:
CentosVM:
UbuntuVM:
Windows10 and OSX Demos coming soon…
Not personally interested in this one, as the look’n’feel is not to my taste, but I did take a look at the demos online.
I notice the ‘powered by’ button points you to a web page with a ‘get WxBox’ link on it…which points the user to a contact us link…so I’m guessing you’re going to want people to pay for this ?
How much ?
Whatever happened to the promised upgrade fix to iOS Wx Pro?
The fixes, and a few enhancements are slated to be published next week at the latest
Been thinking of how to monetize this new app/service… but not 100% sure what path to go down.
One-Time fee?
Monthly/yearly subscription?
Fully ad-supported? (ugh!)
Anyone have any thoughts along the $$cost$$ line, just drop me a PM.
Also, long-term… planning on adding the ability to have each individual user set up the display how they like it… give the end-user options to rearrange/change data items.
Even define their own display.
I applaud the effort - its always nice to see another option coming into play. Its difficult though when you are up against systems such as weewx and beclhertown which are free (https://belchertownweather.com/). Or even systems such as home assistant which also take in WF and allow dashboards etc to be made.
If you are going to offer the webhosting as a one click solution, then that’s different as it takes away the need for knowledge on setting up a web server. There is also of course weather underground which perhaps fills that market quite well.
I guess the important thing is to make it look as good as you can - things such as either the Material Design Fonts or FlatIcons are good to use and add that current look - if it looks good and is a simple set up then people will use it
Having been around of old, Weather Display Live was very popular - this used Flash, there is a new non flash version but its lost its design ethos a bit. Personally, i think its all about the design.
Looking forward to seeing where this moves onto,
Andy
Thanks for the feedback, Andy.
Kinda leaning toward a nominal fee for the app, and a subscription for WeatherBox service… IF and ONLY IF, you choose to publish your data publicly. If you choose to use WB on your local network only, without using my server/hosting, then maybe a free option for that. Both options would allow data uploads to various weather services.
Wunderground => Blunderground… just sayin’
I’ve been using both the free and paid (pro) version of BTSTWx for almost a month now (from the Google Play store on a Fire HD tablet).
I was just reading through this thread and see that screenshot with the radar map. Will that version be released soon?
Thanks!
Planning on a release next week.
Still looking forward to the update. I can beta test as well. Thanks!
Bonjour,
Quelle est la difference entre la version pro et la gratuite ? Merci
Does this app still work on an iPhone 12? Mine will no longer connect on either app, standard or pro.
Yes, it should work.
I will check the server side and post back.
Strange - now the app just crashes as soon as I put the station address in.
Hello All!
I realize there are issues with btstWx and btstWx PRO. Never fear… I am reworking some server code and will be releasing updated versions of both apps soon.
Also, both apps will be abandoned soon as well… in favor of a single app: WeatherBox. This app will include functionality from both btstWx apps, as well as some new features (connecting to WeatherBox wx stations).
I apologize for the delay, but some things take time. Rest assured… progress is coming!

Hi.
My btstwx pro says 148 lightning count since midnight.
Tempest interface says 8.
Why is that?
Thanks.
