CheckWX API change

I received an email from checkWX with a change to their API. Excerpt from the email:

Starting June 1, 2026, the 3,000 daily requests tier will require a nominal fee of $1 per month.
Users who choose not to upgrade will automatically be moved to our new Trial Plan with 200 daily requests (still completely free).

Peter, will this affect the PiConsole. I’m not sure how often the PiConsole uses the checkWX API.

Hi Laura, I got the same email. This shouldn’t affect the PiConsole. The number of requests it makes at default settings per day is 4! Even if you refreshed the Sager Forecast every hour, the most it would make is 24. If you login to your CheckWX API account on their website and view the API Dashboard under your account, you can see the number of calls that have been made with your API key

Thanks Peter. I checked my account and I’m averaging 4 per day. I have 124 requests for the last thirty days.
