Is there a way to display in Portrait mode? I’dd like to view this on an iPad or larger Pi display but my kitchen shelving is limited in width and less so in height.
In the Tempest app, no. There is no landscape view.
With that said…there are options if you aren’t afraid of a DIY solution.
One option is WFPiConsole. You install it on a small Raspberry Pi computer and it runs as a display service to any monitor you can hook it up to…run it on an 85" tv if you wanted to. It looks like this
Another option is to run Home Assistant. It’s intended to be a home automation controller, but it has a good Tempest integration. Home Assistant can be installed on pretty much any always-on computer. It runs as a local webserver that you can access with anything on your local network that has an internet browser on it. With HA you can create dashboards to display on those devices. The dashboards are really flexible and there are countless ways you can display your data to your liking. Here are a couple of my weather dashboards on Home Assistant that I have displayed on wall mounted tablets.
Another option you may want to consider is WeeWx. Which also needs installed on an always on computer. It reads data from your Tempest and also displays it as a webpage. I’ve got it installed and running, but I don’t use it much as I haven’t really explored how to customize the themes and format of display, but going off some screen shots I’ve found, people have made it look pretty cool. Here’s how it looks from the base installation with no customization
No, there is no option to use WFPiConsole in portrait mode
