“Extreme” ain’t good enough

My wife and I live in the highlands of Panama. Often, our rainfall hits “Extreme” when it is just ramping up. Here’s a recent hour:

The good Tempest folks provided me with this rain-rate naming criteria:

VERY LIGHT: < 0.25 mm/hour

LIGHT: 2 0.25: < 1.0 mm/hour

MODERATE: ≥ 1.0, < 4.0 mm/hour

HEAVY: 2 4.0, < 16.0 mm/hour

VERY HEAVY: ≥ 16.0, < 50 mm/hour

EXTREME: > 50.0 mm/hour

But my rough calculations say that our rainfall was north of 70mm/hr. So stronger language is clearly called for. My wife suggests a level titled “Car Wash”. But I think that “Biblical” is more appropriate.

Thoughts?

Looks pretty good to me

Since you asked: I like BIBLICAL!

IIRC, one of the Davis weather station consoles used to have “Build an Ark” for extreme rain rates…

The Vantage Pro2 would say “It’s Raining Cats & Dogs” when it really came down.
