I agree w Gary - BUT - why can’t the WiFi auto-reconnect? Whenever my hub loses its WiFi connection to the router - I always have to unplug the hub and replug it to re-establish the connection. This is not the way my phone, or tablet of laptop works. They each automatically reconnect as soon as the WiFi signal returns. The present situation means that if the hub disconnects while I’m not home, I cannot reconnect it until I get back home to manually restart it.
Hello Steve
I think it is related to combinations of wifi router and hub. In my case both hubs find their way automagically even when my wifi antenna is updated … or has a little downtime for other maintenance reasons, it all comes back in less then a minute when the signal is back up. Isn’t it possible the dhcp lease is preventing the re connect in your case ?? (just a wild guess)
Steve, the next time the Hub goes offline, please reboot the router and not the Hub. This will give an indication of whether it’s a handshake issue or a bad Hub.
What make as and model is your router and have you updated your routers firmware?
Router Asus rt-ac 5300 triband running asus merlin 384.9 firmware. Weathrflow station has permanently assigned ip address from the DHCP pool and is on 2.4 GHz band 6 ft from router. I can tell you that rebooting the router will always result in the hub remaining offline until the hub is rebooted. the 384.9 firmware is the latest Merlin release for this router.
ok I see. I had a tomato flashed router and had the same issue you had. I never got it to work properly. Once disconnected for some reason … no way to get it back in without relaunching the hub. Think I tried to play every single setting … nope not working.
I finally switched to Ubiquity HW, away the problems.
I have yet to see my HUB not reconnect when my eero reboots after updating its firmware. Hopefully, it is just a router issue, Steve.
I sporadically see this behaviour too. My ISP router reboots itself every 14 days. All WiFi equipment reconnects quite happily, except every now and again the hub does not come back on line. Next time it happens I’ll try rebooting the hub again manually to see if the hub can then reconnect.
You should contact support@weatherflow.com and open a support ticket. Maybe you have a defective Hub.
