Nearcast rain question

Last night we took a solid rattling last night. High wind and lots of rain.

I looked this morning and was showing 1.4"s of rain which coincides with data from a half dozen other stations in the area. I toggled of NC and the total rain jumped to 2.12".

What is such a large difference between the 2 attributed too.

I am guessing “I toggled of NC” should be “I toggled off NC”. Assuming this is the case, my best guess is that the high winds caused some vibrations in the unit (usually due to how the unit is mounted) that the haptic sensor interpreted as precip. That is very often the cause of NC rain estimates being lower than the numbers received from the unit without NearCast enabled…

Makes sense on the vibration although flat mounted, screwed to the top of a tree stump, seemed solid until i get a 4x4 in the ground.

Thanks wx.
