Rain calibration since firmware update v94

Hi fishrman,
nearly all Hubs are running v98. The following versions up to v102 are only applied to a very few Hubs, to test a solution for wind measurement drops (see Wind reading way low since battery replacement). But this has until now no effects to the rain detection.

Are you sure? Check that again.

My Bad Sky Rev 43 Thanks @GaryFunk and @dsfg air on rev 20 to bad rain was not a simple as air firmware

I thought you accidentally wrote the Air firmware but wanted to be sure. If you did have a Sky with 20 it would need to be replaced.

No actually my Sky seems to be matching rain fairly close to my atlas and 5-1 and wind seems to be right on the money have it 14 ā€™ up on sealed 1" galvanized pipe 17ā€™up for my atlas anemometer

Now that weā€™ve had a few days of rain Iā€™ve collected a bit of data and my Sky seems to be all over the place, sometimes itā€™s really close, sometimes itā€™s high and sometimes itā€™s low. Given how inconsistent it is compared with other nearby stations, Iā€™m not sure what to think.

Iā€™m pretty sure I donā€™t have any issues with false rain as it was installed for months with 0 rain reported (except when I spayed the hose on it to see if it would report something).

        Sky 5n1 #63 #1
11/21 1.34 1.20 1.27 1.05
11/22 1.10 0.55 0.83 0.66
11/23 1.17 1.12 1.25 0.92
11/24 0.07 0.33 0.34 0.27
11/27 0.30 0.08 0.13 0.11
11/28 0.23 0.36 0.22 0.21

The above is the daily values reported by each station. The 5n1 is my old station thatā€™s about 20 feet away from the Sky. #1 and #63 are Davis stations down the street from me.

Some days, like 11/23 and 11/28(today) seem to be really close. But on 11/24 the Sky is way low compared to other stations and on 11/22 and 11/27 itā€™s way high. I donā€™t see how itā€™s going to be possible to ā€œcalibrateā€ this.

There is probably some rotor effect from my house, but the current site is 100ā€™ clear so Iā€™m not sure how much. Also, itā€™s not set very high yet as I havenā€™t had a chance to build my mount.

Between 11:45am 28/11/18 and 9:30am 29/11/18 We experienced winds over 40 knots but my Sky wind sensor got wet and recorded false winds (and different direction) over 100 knots. During that period my two plastic funnel gauges recorded 36.5mm and 32mm. With those winds it is difficult to get accurate rain readings in the funnels due to rain bouncing off house roofs etc. But Sky (even with its inaccurate wind readings) was between the two with a reading of 35.4mm!

Well done again! cheers Ian

First big rain in a while -

2.66ā€ recorded on my CoCoRaHS gauge.

1.53ā€ on the weather flow.

As expected with freezing rain, the results from my rain gauges is all over the map. My Rainwise #1 and #2 gauges, which are usually in lock step, reported .03" and .08" respectively. My hypothesis here is that the gauge higher off the frozen ground was less affected by the local 31* temperature. My Cocorahs gauge, once thawed out seems to support that notion with a report of .07". The Weatherflow Sky, 30ā€™ up on the roof reported .12". Higher than the rest but perhaps an improvement from when it wouldnā€™t detect rain this light at all.

RW#1 .03"
RW#2 .08"
Cocorahs .07"
WF Sky .12"

If you are still on firmware v94 you should contact support.

Hi Gary,

I thought the updates are all pushed from weather flow. How do I check my firmware versions?
