Simulate Rainfall on a new Tempest?

I’m trying to test precipitation detection with some 3rd party software I use with my Tempest (WeatherDisplay). Previously, it was quite easy to simulate rainfall by simply tapping the top of the tempest with my fingers. My last tempest failed and I have brand new one as of last month and today I was trying to simulate some rainfall and it just won’t respond at all?

We had rain yesterday and plenty of times since I installed it so I know that it will record rain, but it seems the ability to simulate rain doesn’t work the way it used to?

Have they changed the circuitry or sensor in some way that it won’t record rain if it’s too bright out or is there an electrical sensor that detects if it’s ‘wet’ before the haptic sensor will record rainfall?

it might be that they suppress rain measurements when the forecast is telling you that it isn’t going to rain at all.

yeah could be, but weather is so localized that that approach seems problematic

Use a garden hose and nozzle to rain on it.
