Tempest Hub Redesign --- New Look

I am glad to see that it has an antenna which can be rotated up into the vertical position. Lots different than the “Classic Wi-Fi Hub(s)” that I am still using. The antenna on Classic Hub is internal (encased in the plastic housing) and attached to the main PCB (PrintedCircuitBoard) and located on the Left side of the classic hub (as you look at the USB plug-in AND the Green LED facing you.) The antenna on the Classic Hub could not be seen since it was internal. See Historical Images below. For the second image. . .the antenna is the black item on the left (attached to back side of PCB.)

Thank you for pointing out the differences. I had a chance to buy the purple one off of ebay, but decided, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I have two of the first generation hubs and they have never let me down.

I would still love to get the grey Hub with the Ethernet-Port. As far as I understood its only available in North America and not in the EU. I haven’t heard back from Tempest if an EU-version will be available once a day. If its just the power I would also get the US-version, however its probably also different in terms of radio-certs/regulations.

It’s not the power, as it is powered by USB. The issue is the radio frequency. Europe is in ITU Region 1 and uses 868 MHz, where North America is in Region 2 and uses 915 MHz…

Question for anyone

Can I use the TempestOne hub with ethernet with my existing tempest?

I asked that same question recently. . .and Meteorologist Tim Nicholas responded with “Yes it can!” But. . .I think if you have an older Hub (like the white “Classic” one) and you want to use the Ethernet Hub (T1-HUB-01). . .you’d have to open a ticket with Tempest to request that they Merge your old (Historical) data into the T1-Hub you are planning to use. Otherwise the old Historical data Remains associated That old hub. . .and the new one would begin (A-new) from scratch. You’d have to leave both Hubs connected so that the old data can be merged from old to new Hub. I’ve had to have this done before. . .it takes several days for them to get-around-to-it.

You’d have to provide the StationID of your station. . .the Hub serial numbers: HB-00xxxxxx and the Tempest DeviceID. These ID numbers can be found by scrolling all the way down to the bottom of your station page in the Lower Right-hand portion. . .to find the Green Dot next to the word Online then mouse-over it and click on that. It will bring up the Status page for your station. Locate the necessary ID numbers to provide to Tempest Support.
