@weatherflow can a manual way be put into settings for time zone settings I am in southwestern Indiana and about 3 miles from central time zone and that seems to be where I am at as my totals reset at 1 am Not 12 am I should be in Eastern Time zone, My Station ID is 4784 official weather flow map WF47591
WU map KINVINCE13
Indiana is a screwed up state when it comes to time zones a small part of North western Indiana is in central TZ and a small part of south western Indiana is in central also the rest is eastern and the politicians are changing it about every 10 yrs but they never put the whole state on same zone
@fishrman It appears the our source data for timezone in your area might not be performing as well as we would like and are looking into the issue.
We have adjusted your timezone to the Eastern time zone manually in the database and should resolve the issue you are seeing. Please do not change the latitude / longitude of your location as the action will revert the manual change we just made. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.
Iāve got a similar issue, but I wouldnāt expect it to show up in your timezone database. Station 3110 is on Pine Cay in the Turks & Caicos, and while the TCI is (once again) on Eastern, Pine Cay stays on AST all year round. Is there any way to change my WeatherFlow timezone?
Yes, the database says Pine Cay is in the āAmerica/Grand_Turkā timezone. We can change your stationās timezone to America/New_York and itāll stick as long as you donāt change your stationās location. Would that work?
I could tell you all kinds of funny stories about cruise ship passengers getting left behind at St. Thomas, USVI at certain times of the year, because USVI and PR stay AST year-round. Cruise directors warn about it until they turn blue in the face, but invariably someone gets to take an awesome selfie from the pier as the ship sails off without themā¦
Yeah, what vreihen said, weāre in our own little (unofficial) time zone separate from the rest of the TCI. Pine Cay stays on AST (GMT-0400) year-round. New York is (currently) wrong, and even Halifax (currently correct) will be wrong after the next DST transition. On my Linux boxes I use System V timezones, AST4 if that helps.
In fact, that location is in the center of Providenciales, which is the main island, from whence comes my Internet (three different ways, depending on failover). Surely you arenāt suggesting that IP location databases are anywhere near accurate or correct?
teaches us to take GeoIP services with a grain of saltā¦ (the company behind these has been slowly re-mapping some of the more egregious errors to the middle of nearby lakes, for instance, but there are a non-zero number of problems, and they are difficult to diagnose.
