Does anyone know what happened to the CWOP site? You can no longer get mesowest data for any station and their support email is no longer active. I get a similar message no matter what station I try to view data for.
So, they have officially killed CWOP, then. That sucks
How did you make the huge leap from a professor at the University of Utah retiring and shutting down the aging MesoWest server(s) that are becoming more difficult to maintain to the complete killing off of the national CWOP program?
In the text of the above linked page is a pointer to Synoptic Data, a public benefits corporation launched by MesoWest as the successor to MesoWest. The University of Utah gave plenty of advance notice that users need to transition to Synoptic Data’s servers (or any other WX/CWOP gateway) before they shut down the Utah servers at the end of 2026 if not sooner if the servers fail.

On that “if not sooner” front, the banner message below is on the top of the MesoWest main page about a security issue taking the server down yesterday. Not surprising, as old servers are more difficult to keep secure. Hopefully, “if not sooner” isn’t today for those who haven’t made the transition off of MesoWest to Synoptic Data yet…

First of all, as a CWOP user/contributor, I was NEVER notified of ANY OF THIS. Second of all, I can now no longer see my weather station data in the normal method from CWOP. I don’t have the skill or time to jump thru hoops to make sure my data gets to this new site.
CWOP seems alive and well to me. The data are still available at NOAA MADIS Surface Observations . And the Synoptic Data seems alive and well (I view my data via Synoptic Data Viewer .
For both of those, just make sure that the dataset configuration includes the mesonet APRSWXNET .
The MesoWest gateway to view CWOP and observations from other MesoNet data sources is being deprecated. It has nothing to do with CWOP or APRSWXNET, other than being used by some people to view the station observations being sent to those MesoNets.
I have no idea where/how the OP’s data is being injected into APRSWXNET/CWOP network, but it has been flowing continuously for the past 10 days despite the MesoWest server issue:

Yes, the whole thing is a pile of spaghetti even after hours of reading! The executive summary is that CWOP is a network of live weather station observation data gathered by APRS, which is offered to the NWS and anyone else who wants to use it for research, forecasting, or web sites like the soon-to-be-former MesoWest, FindU, and aprs.fi.
CWOP has absolutely nothing to do with MesoWest, and has no way of even knowing what one of the many sites displaying their observations is doing.
WeatherFlow-Tempest does not offer a consumer option to feed data to CWOP, and reportedly already share all Tempest observations in aggregate through another MesoNet…
