Is there a way to view my station through NOAA to verify my station data is available to my local meterologists? I have turned on public data.
And just to update this topic, I just wanted to verify that my Tempest data is still being automatically uploaded to NOAA provided I have public data turned on?
Interesting question. I’m new to Tempest and have been trying to figure this out. This thread:
contains a script to easily report Tempest data to CWOP, and I’ve got that running now. Prior to this, I noted that my station (and all the others in my area) don’t show up on Synoptic viewer the way the CWOP stations and other more official stations do. There’s some discussion on that linked thread about how forecasters do not typically see the Tempest data on tools they use, even though Tempest may well be reporting it to NOAA somehow.
I’d be interested to learn the details of this too. For now, I just use that script to leverage the free Tempest API and report to CWOP. I figure, might as well. Fun to see it work anyway!
I’m pretty sure that WF-T sends Tempest data to the NWS in bulk/aggregate, which means that there is no station ID associated with the data to search for…
