New Tempest Weather System

Can the Tempest weather system send weather information outside? is it sunny, partly cloudy, rain, snow, clear, fog based on the solar sensor through which the cell is charged?

What is the minimum on the Tempest weather system and how much is the maximum atmospheric pressure (hPa)?

Is there a bit of software for Windows 10 Professional 64 to open and view tempest weather systems to send data directly to your server?

Will delivery to Bosnia and Herzegovina soon, EUROPE?

Not sure about nerves wearing thin for me, but it is harder being patient as mid-January keeps getting closer. Will be my first experience with a WeatherFlow system. Was ecstatic to get picked for the Tempest field testing and being able to provide feedback on the system. Will be setting it up with my old AcuRite 5-N-1.

Welcome Mike F. I, too was excited about applying for ā€œTempest Field Testersā€ back on Nov 5th. . then being selected on Dec 3rd when I submitted my order to WF for $99.41 (to include the $10.41 for 2-day priority USPS shipping.) When it comes to Weather or its equipmentā€¦I am a Very Impatient Meteorologist! Although we both do not have a test kit yet to play with, one difference that you will note. . . is that You are now labeled at ā€œTempest Field Testersā€ . . . whereas I am not. To me, that doesnā€™t matter. . . . all I want is the test kit I paid for to include a 2XL hoodie and the Yeti insulated mug. PS. Iā€™ve been to Colorado Springs more times that I can count.

Maybe since we requested larger hoodie sizes, we are having to wait on the field testā€¦

Love this area. Iā€™m actually NE of Colorado Springs and at an elevation of 7,200ā€™ (high plains on what is known as the Palmer Divide and part of what gives the weather forecasters in this area fits due to all of the microclimates it creates) so I wonder if Iā€™ll have the highest elevation of the field testing group?

Whenever we go to COS (mother-in-law lives there). . .I Always take my WeatherFlow windMETER to take a series of WindObs.

Hi aminicos,

Yes, the Tempest weather system will send all useful data to the networks will be attached to like the first Air/Sky does via a so called Hub, wich is a ā€œbridgeā€ or base station connecting to WIFI. It will broadcast UDP messages wich can be received and processed like you want. Have a look to this part of the forum
https://community.tempest.earth/c/owners/integrations/12
Where you can see a lot of available solutions for different Systems.
Or you receive those messages directly by your server.

For the weather conditions Tempest will have sensors. Their values will be transmitted. So most conditions can be determined.

The Hub will send the data directly to the Weatherflow-servers as well.

Have you pre-ordered on Kickstarter or Indiegogo? Those will be shipped worldwide. As far as I know, the Distribution for Europe isnā€™t set up yet, but planed.

For the sensor parameters, like the minimal atmospheric pressure, nothing is fixed due to the current beta testing. I expect, the Tempest will have at least the range of the existing Air (and Sky System). Then it would measure down to 700mbar or even lower.

If you have further questions, please look around here in the forum. As well, you are welcome to open a new topic and ask your questions.

Sorry, too many different email addresses! Your forum account is now part of the Tempest Field Tester group.

Still waiting on mine

Is there any Tempest weather station active on the Internet to look at how it works and what information it provides ?

Iā€™m waiting for my ā€œprizeā€ also. WF stated recently that they hope to have all of them out by mid-January! Iā€™m ā€œpredictingā€ mine will arrive by Fri Jan 31st. There have been as many as 5 ā€œbatchesā€ tested recently. . .which should be ready for release ā€œinto the wildā€ by the end of this month.

The types of output of the Tempest is the same as the SKY + AIR.

At this point the data isnā€™t relevant as testing is going on. Means many routines are not yet active as the goal is to have as much ā€˜rawā€™ data as possible at this point. Some show pretty nice data and some show less nice results. But this is to expect with test devices with small difference.
If this data is shown to you, most would say ouch ā€¦ some are even worse than actual stations ā€¦ because you have no idea what is active or not under the hood. Remember there is hardware but also a big software part.
Once it settles down to stable, Iā€™m pretty sure the testers will be allowed to share their stations with you all to see. :innocent: yes I know ā€¦ waiting time is hard

A post was merged into an existing topic: Patiently waiting for my Tempest Field Test Kit

I chuckled at that.

Hello. This is mr persistent- aka the pest ā€“ one of the first non beta people to get the Sky/Air first. Any updates. When is the Tempest gonna be ready for the customers who first bought the Sky. Do first customers get first chance. Ive seen different dates. Really excited, even though i have 2 Sky/Air

Can u have two hubs working at the same time, without interference

Yes, no problem at all, I have 3 at present working like 20 cm apart from each other, I know some just have them piled up ā€¦ :upside_down_face:
Guess there can be some problems when you are limit reception but as long youā€™re in comfortable range, no problem

Hello
Iā€™m thinking of purchasing the new tempest weather station.
I saw that the unit should be placed under direct sunlight.
but is this will reduce the unitā€™s lifespan? If the unit is constantly under direct sunlight, should the plastic and other materials loses their strength?

Hello Panos.ips

The plastics used are designed to withstand the UV and other weather elements. Todayā€™s Skyā€™s are still fine for most of us (maybe a bit discoloured) after 2 years in all elements.

The Tempest will resist over time, rest assured :sunglasses:

thatā€™s true for any weather station with plastic parts.
