Tempest firmwares can only be changed by technicians and not persons like me. It is still to tricky this OTA upgrades.
Do we have any technicians on the board that can help?
They are working on the issues. As soon as the cause is discovered they will fix the issue and push it out to test devices. Then it goes to public.
I wish @WFsupport could rollback to v129. Each time my sensor reboots there is a gap in data. I recognize I’m frustrated by the situation. The Tempest is too pricey to have a random reboot issue
Until the issue is resolved, I will have to move my primary data collection to my Atlas and make the Tempest secondary or take it offline completely.
I understand your frustration. My entire site is down. I’d rather they spend the time finding and fixing the issues. If they spend their time rolling firmware back on every station that has an issue then that puts the fix further out.
You make a good point! Thanks for keeping things in perspective.
Finally got the update.
Uptime has been over 8hrs thus far, so no initial problems here.
My sensor is rebooting more frequently. At this time, it’s rebooting every 9-12 hours.
Do not worry too much about it mine been doing it( FT and Pt) since the 133 update was not near as bad as Gary’s but its random on timing and its gone 2+ days before and sometimes 6-8hr I am sure they will figure it out they have a lot riding on it
May have to break the old soldering Iron out hopefully there’s a jtag port on it
There is and it’s connected to the debugger.
Factory or private and I am 20 characters short
Random reboots and iffy uptimes are nothing new, one of my Sky’s has been doing it for almost a year - I’ve posted about it a number of times, but never got any indication what might trigger a reboot to try and establish the cause. Not that I have to worry about that now, as my solar powered one likes to take a nap every night, so the uptime is never more than daylight hours anyway!
Did you create a trouble ticket for this issue? If so, did WF respond to the ticket and try to resolve the issue?
Did you replace your Sky with another weather station?
Oh yes, it was replaced (as was the solar panel add-on) with no issues, Weatherflows support is second to none in my opinion - the other unit is running just fine, but this one is my pet project as I am determined to work out what is wrong with it, I hate throwing things away that “work” and this clearly works, when it feels like it
Yes, another Sky I will also likely get the Tempest when its available to UK. Despite the odd issue with the hardware (which is quickly resolved, just a bit frustrating with the down time while it ships from US and clears customs etc), I have no issues what so ever with the Weatherflow products, and I love how open the data is etc. I’m unlikely to look elsewhere anytime soon.
Anyway sorry for the off-topic, I just wanted to share that the random reboots on the Tempest is neither unique to the Tempest, nor a new thing. Not saying they have the same causes mind you.
Are you saying that the Tempests have remote jtag debugging capabilities from the factory or are you saying that you’ve got yours on a debugger?
Believe mine updated overnight! Showing 134 now.
WF Support contacted me about my Tempest sensor rebooting issue. They requested me to do a factory reset on the sensor and then turn the unit off for 1-3 hours. I did as they requested yesterday.
Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. The sensor rebooted early this morning and was offline for 3 minutes.
I notified WF Support about the latest status. WF is replacing my sensor so they can do analysis on the faulty unit.
Since you pointed this out, I have noticed that my Tempest sensor pack is rebooting also. I’m not sure exactly how often, but I look at it daily and the Uptime is never more than a day so it must be rebooting fairly often. My hub has been up for over 8 days which is as expected since I depowered it at that time to take the Tempest down to install the bird spike kit.
