Proper method to get the tempest onto the pole without breaking the Tempes

I have a 1” metal pipe and it looks like the diameter is 1 1/4”. What is the proper method to get the Tempest onto the pole with out breaking and of the 4 threaded pieces on the bottom of the tempest. Right now it will not slide onto the pole.

Never mind. I forced it onto the pole and didn’t break it. Yay!
