We made a high quality display for live Tempest data

This has been in the works for over a year, but LUMIQ has just released a dedicated Tempest display. Just connect it with your Tempest account, and data is shown using colored lights and animations in real time.

Tempest Weather Display

I really like this but will it go horizontal or only vertical? Also is there any user feedback yet?

ummmmm - so you have a tablet-like computer (?) with hard-coded layout that is reading the data via websockets ?

What do you do for folks who want metric units (or not) ? Do you speak 5GHz wifi ? I see no manual for this device on your very shiny yet data-sparse website.

Ten bucks for a hunk of wood with a slot in it for a stand ? C’mon guys. Toss it in for free.

Hi Vince! Thanks for the constructive, well thought through feedback - I’m sure the other Tempest owners here appreciate the time you put into it.

We’re not using a tablet. The display is made from acrylic and has LED’s embedded in it. It’s really unique and doesn’t look like anything else on the market.

We currently only sell in the USA, so the default is imperial units. That said we are working on some alternatives for metric since the Tempest should be a global product eventually.

We use 2.4 GHz WiFi. There are cost and compatibility benefits to this and for the vast majority of users, their networks support both 2.4 and 5.

The manual is located here: Manuals. We’re a very small company so this is still a work in progress.

We made the stand an optional add on because some people hang the display on their wall using the sawtooth hook on the back. Seemed like charging everyone for a stand that they might not use wasn’t the best way.

Happy to answer any other questions!

Vertical only. The display is a printed piece of acrylic with LED’s embedded in it.

Thanks for all the updates, very informative. I think I will be ordering soon. I use a dedicated tablet in my office but this likes something that my family can enjoy in the living room so I will probably give it a go.

What happens when Weatherflow updates their API?

We just update our cloud backend to match. Our display doesn’t directly connect to WF. There is an intermediate layer that pre-processes WF data using your Tempest token.

Like the innovative thought! Appreciate you letting us know about it. May be ordering soon for both my stations! Thanks!

So what if we live in a place where it’s consistently above 100 degrees (Phoenix, AZ) - can we have a “hot edition” that goes up to 130? â—ĄÌˆ

IF the Temp in PHX (and surrounding areas) including the lower desert areas got up to 130 or 140 degrees (good heavens!). . .the display would show. . .

For example. . .a Tempeature of 137° F would show the magenta dot below “100” illuminated . . .
Plus. . .the magenta dot below “30” would also be illuminated. . .and the magenta dot above the “7” digit would be illuminated. So. . .using idea from the sample above. . .if PHX AZ Tempest device got up to 137° the display would show up as “100” + “30” + “7” on the indicator LEDs.

Received mine today. Up and running in 15 minutes. It was so easy to do I thought it wouldn’t be any good. WOW was I wrong this display is fantastic and does so much more than I could imagine. Once I downloaded the full manual it all made sense and very easy to move between pages and see all that is current and forecast for the next three days. I can not say enough great things about this display.

Does the display turn off or is it always on? Wondering about night in a dark room and not wanting the light.

It stays lit but I call it very subdued as the LED’s are small and it allows you to see at a glance but not an annoying brightness.

The device has an ambient light sensor, so it will dim to match the current lighting conditions including a dark room. It also has the ability to implement a sleep schedule and can be manually turned off by using the gesture sensor!

Lol. I’m thinking of a gesture that would let the device know I’m done with it

:innocent:

Hello,

I think your product is wonderful.
Having a Tempest, I’ve been looking for this type of product for years.
I live in Switzerland and the display values are metric (meters, km/h, etc.)
Can I display the values in this format soon?
I would like to buy it and have it delivered to Switzerland.
I can be a “beta-test”?
Thank you very much.
