We made a high quality display for live Tempest data

I may be confused (not hard) but I thought that you can change that wind direction in their setup when the map is active.

Where I’m having problems is gaining access to their setup when you power down the map and then power it back up. When I try getting into settings I get an ERROR prompt. I tried a few times and did not get into the INITIAL setup

I have not seen where there is a place to change wind direction status. When I unplug my LightMap for a few seconds then plug it back in. . .the Green and Blue status LED (between the cloud image in the upper right and the word " Tempest° " alternates. Then I go into the Internet setup on my Android device. For Wi-Fi. . .I can see LightMap and I touch on it. When I do that. . .this is the setup I get.

The only thing I have changed is the Power Schedule. Off or sleep at 12:15 AM. . On or wakeup at 6:00 AM. Haven’t see where to change the wind direction setting (if there is one).

When using the App (called Tempest Display Connector) on Android. . .upon logging in to my account. . .I can then switch between stations. I have one Original SWS and two Tempest° stations that I can choose from.

These are the only two items / choices that I have noticed. . .offered by LUMIQ (LightMap).

I find it funny that I can’t get into that aspect of the Setup but can get to Wind Direction.

For Wind Direction, you do NOT unplug the map. You leave it running and ON. Then go to the Setup web page. After entering your code will will see the MAP where you can locate your unit and also at the top of that screen, the WIND setup choices DROPDOWN Menu.

I went to that site and could not log in as it requires a two or three words printed on back. I guess I have an earlier version or later. Was just curious about it but my display follows my Tempest without an issue.

I just opened up a browser window on my DELL PC. I typed in setup.lightmaps.io. . .and I got this:

Then I chose Coming From and pinned my location on the map.

I was trying to go in thru LIGHTMAPS App on Android. But apparently. . .it uses a webpage to communicate for this purpose. . .not the App.

I selected the Coming From then saved it. Winds are calm right now. . .so I shall see later today when a Light to Gentle southerly breeze develops.

Who Would-a Thunk it? I communicated with LightMaps several times after I got mine in early April. . .they didn’t tell me about that “Display Setup”. Thanks @fjk6515 for that valuable tip !

Followup / Update at 9:25am CDT. Wind from backyard Tempest° is from the S to SW at 1.1 mph with a slight gust to 3.1 mph. LightMaps wind direction LED is illuminated for S (occasionally) SW. . .which corresponds to Tempest°. . .and what I am seeing on my ‘wfpiconsole’.

So for others (courtesy of @fjk6515) if you want your LightMaps wind direction to display the same as seen on your Tempest° App or webpage. . .merely go in to “setup.lightmaps.io” and change the Blowing Toward to Coming From. I will now Verify that works!

Mine is only about two weeks old and it has two words on the back. There’s a QR code and then the words

code: xxxx yyyy

But I can’t seem to get into the initial setup when powering it on.

I had to have my First one Replaced because it had a Glitch in it. I returned it and they promptly sent me a replacement. . including the “Free Bamboo Stand”!

I communicated with them via Email. . .info@lightmaps.io Send them a message and explain the situation. They will reply back to let you know what they think might be the issue.

For my First device’s glitch in April. . .I ended up calling them and Kevin (one of the design engineers) talked me thru the procedure. The board had a defect…so that’s why it was RFR`d (Returned For Replacement).

If I put my glasses on and looked closer I found those two words. Thanks for guiding me in the right direction!!!

I must not be UNplugging correctly. When I unplug and then plug back in, I get the Blue Status bar. First solid and then blinking. But when I try going to setup.lightmaps.io I only get the Map and Wind direction options. I want to control the lighting brightness and whatever else can be changed!!!

Do I need to get back to the very beginning somehow?

try using a barcode reader app on your mobile device. . .then scan the QR code on the top right-hand portion of the back side of your LightMap display board. It should bring up a URL that looks something like this:

https: // tempest _ lightmaps . io /?id=[name name] . . . where “name” is the two-worded name of Your LM display board. e.g. star candy
Note: spaces were used in the above URL example to keep it from hyperlinking.

Then you would touch on that URL and it should then launch something that looks like this. . .

Log in to your Tempest account to bring up the LightMap Wi-Fi network popup with the Options under it to adjust / change the Brightness of the display and to set times for the Power Schedule (when to Sleep it and when to Wake it up.) The Power Schedule just turns On / Off the display. It does NOT log you out or cancel anything. Then when the timer arrives at the “turn On” time. . .the display board’s LED light up again showing all of the parameters.

When the display board is “sleeping”. . .simply Gesture wave or touch the cloud / icon in the top upper right of the board. . to engage the display as normal.

After being satisfied with a Power Schedule and Brightness . . . touch on Submit to have the display board save those settings.

Thanks. I believe that I finally managed it. Although, it seems to be turning off too soon. I will check it again in the morning. And also check the intensity of the lighting.

I will admit that there could be an easier way to control these various parameters. At least, from my perspective.

I just received an email from WF-T, advertising that they are now selling the LightMap Weather Display in their web store for $119:

https://shop.tempest.earth/collections/accessories/products/lightmap-weather-display-tempest

Note that the email contained a 10% off coupon code, which I am not sharing in the forum but you can find in their email about this new addition to their online store…

The LightMap Tempest° Weather Display is the Perfect item for those who’ve been wanting a display other than the app or Tempest° webpage. . .and who do not use or have a ‘wfpiconsole’.

My Tempest wall, well, large refrigerator magnet!

I got it a few weeks ago and while it was standing on the counter using its included bamboo stand, it was cluttering up my work space.

The other day I got inspiration (some may question that!) and decided to hang on my fridge door. Got a magnetic hook yesterday and hence, the results. I will consider its placement for a bit but it can obviously be moved. The wire is certainly long enough to allow placement high on a wall using the hanger on its rear.

I used its setup routine to dim the light, I think, to about 70 percent. Others may prefer it brighter.

I will note that the round dots representing 5 and 50 in the temperature reading makes it easy to decipher the temperature from a distance.

So far I’m quite satisfied with the display. Just an ordinary customer voicing an opinion.

We really love our display! As an added feature would it be possible to include dewpoint to the temp display using a different LED color and cycling on maybe once a minute? The dewpoint is watched closely by folks in monsoon zones. Thanks!
