HA! Keith has a sick sense of humor. I LOVE IT.
@WFmarketing You owe me $1.98 for the Map.
SMILE
buy him a bag of sweets keep him happy till it arrives ā¦know matter how hard you try there will always be a minority that will sit there and spit there dummy outā¦ hope thats a champion stating obvious replyā¦all good things come to those that wait money cant buy everything when you think it willā¦sure you will mellow out when it arrivesā¦
At least on this forum (supporting weatherflow weather stations) all answers are posted in forum you do not have people who read scripts , string you on for 2-3 days and then tell you to check your e-mail does that sound familiar, and they also have a new improved weather station that has been going to be released now for at least a yr now , but I think they have too much older obsolete Inaccurate temp readings stock to get rid of first
nobody had to invest in the fundraising of weatherflow they could of waited and purchased one at a higher price when they go on public sale , and if nobody did invest in the fundraising of this product through Indiegogo I am sure if Weatherflow would have had to gotten a loan for research ,testing and production you could least double or triple the cost of units .
I Just Want to Thank them for Making state of the art equipment affordable for people like me
Thx
Congrats! I installed my SKY yesterday. Loving it, so far.
So worth the wait. Also the station map is awesome! Where do I send my $1.98 (or whatever)
Iām still pretty sure you guys are paid by Energizer to sell batteriesā¦.
Actually, I have been an iWindsurf customer for 20 years and know your company well.
Iām also a PhD engineer who is very familiar with developing a new product.
It is good you have a sense of humor because you are going to need it.
The hard part is still ahead.
I decided to stir the internet pot because your communications have been both too few and too arrogant.
It costs you nothing to send an email and it is impossible to over-communicate when trying to commercialize a product.
It costs you a lot to make optimistic promises and then under deliver.
Instead of promising fifo shipping in April then not being able to meet that target you could have promised to have all orders cleared by June when you plan to start retail sales.
Just as long as you can get the backlog cleared by the end of June you will probably be OK.
If you canāt you should get on top of the situation now with more communication.
As I said, the hard part is yet to come.
How you handle the inevitable customer technical problems will determine the viability of your enterprise.
It looks to me like there is a bird/bird spike/vibration problem that is an issue.
Your customers are building their own solutions with unpredictable results.
What could possibly go wrongā¦ā¦?
I truly hope your enterprise succeeds.
Beat your way through your self-created shipping snafu and get on with developing your product.
Iām looking forward to receiving my unit (soon) and contributing to the development process.
Regards,
Ed Timm
Wow, that is strange. I think it has been quite the opposite. For having an engineering background I would have thought you would have been able to see that. In any case, as others have said, you didnāt have to invest in it.
Very well said Ed!
Thanks.
I got a flame mail from David Nelson who seems to think everything is perfect.
The market will decide.
Ed
David Nelson is wrong for doing so.
I donāt agree with your opinion but you are free to state your personal feelings.
I think everyone who is giving praise to WF either already has their stations or they havenāt been waiting for 2 freakinā years like you!!
I just received a production Sky. I have waited a long time.
As David @dsj and Keith @WFmarketing can attest to, I give praise where itās due and I criticize where itās due. The key is to be reasonable and honest.
Gary we all are just excited to get our stations is all. I have everything in place to install it as soon as i receive mine! With excitement comes frustration!
We have become an impatient society.
I blame Amazon.
Very much so! We have ordered off Amazon and have it the very next day! You know we all are excited when most of us have have everything in place to install! I think I went out and bought everything I needed to install the next day!
I donāt see how it was a flame email but you are obviously entitled to think so. No, everything isnāt perfect, but I havenāt seen how their responses have been arrogant, either.
Thereās a lot of dancing around so I am going to say this straight out.
I could keep going on but the reality is the Weather Flow team and hundreds of others know what I have written is true. The company will continue to refine, iterate, and take on feedback from every one. They will continue to offer first rate (Job One) service after the sale.
Lastly, they will take all of the feedback good, bad, ugly, and learn from it and move forward. This, is the hall mark of great people, company, and vision!!
No, I donāt work for the company . . .
Straight out. That was a waste of a post.
This topic has drifted way off,
People have opinions and other people support or disagree with those opinions. I wonāt pretend to judge either group as to what one may know or understand. Thatās just wrong on so many levels.
However, when you post a rather negative opinion please state the facts as you believe them so others may at least have an understanding why you believe your opinion is correct.
There was a time when David (@dsj) had hair. Now heās married with children, runs the day-to-day operation of a very successful, multi-thousand dollar company and has to accept responsibility for every single post on this forum.
For most of us, we can post whatever we want and very few people care. For David, the WeatherFlow Staff and moderators that are held to a higher standard, he has to accept responsibility for each of their posts and weāve already seen issues there.
Please, donāt make accusations without starting why. Please, donāt tell others what they know or donāt know. Please, donāt disrespect others. There has been too much of that here already.
Hello to all,
Just to add my two cents to the conversation . . .
I have the greatest respect for all who have decided to contribute to this community discussion.
@edtimm may have done a positive thing by deciding to āstir the internet potā as it has given a number of people an opportunity (and the motivation) to comment. And I certainly respect Edās qualifications.
I, too, am an engineer and have worked for nearly forty years in engineering, product development, product support and project management.
Some points can be made that WeatherFlow had a period of time when communications with Indiegogo backers could have been better . . . and there was also a period of time when there may have been a bit too much optimism, but I, personally, donāt see that WeatherFlow has been arrogant and I believe that the communications has improved immensely. While there may have been a number of arrogant (or even offensive) comments posted within this community, I would say that few, if any, of the arrogant or offensive posts can be attributed to WeatherFlow staff. In my experience, WeatherFlow staff has been responsive and polite in all of my interactions with them.
Where @bestboy56 comments on people who are praising WeatherFlow as people who already have their stations, I must comment that, until very recently, the people who had HUB, AIR & SKY stations were only Field Testers. As an example, I have two such stations, but still have not received my ordered-two-years-ago production SKY unit (but it looks like my order will get here soon).
Please remember that in addition to WeatherFlow staff, there is a large group of Field Testers and Third-Party Developers (75 or more people) who have been contributing countless hours to the future success of this product and to the development of third-party products/drivers/utilities that will work with the WeatherFlow products. We have worked with several versions of hardware and numerous versions of firmware and have tested the systems and compared them against other instruments over and over to help the WeatherFlow staff make the product ready for distribution.
To Ed Timmās point about customers building their own solutions to problems I must say that, in my view, those ācustomersā are primarily Field Testers and the āsolutionsā that have been built have led to several hardware design changes and will be leading to product enhancements / accessories that are now in the pipeline.
@GaryFunk is correct that this topic has drifted way off . . . so I do not plan to comment further other than to say that all of us who are interested in weather instrumentation and technology have a fine opportunity to continue contributing to this effort. I hope that we can all do so with respect, collegiality and good manners.
Thanks to all who took the time to read through my (as usual) rather verbose comments.
Dan.
