That’s the way the owner has it configured.

You are seeing stations report wind directions in Degrees or Cardinal (N, E, S, W, etc.) differently according to what the stations owners have set their stations within the Smart Weather App. Press the Gear Icon in the upper left of the Smart Weather app and scroll down to the Wind Direction option to toggle between Degrees and Cardinal.
You can set wind direction for degees or cardinal.

Looks like there are no weatherflow weather stations in Okinawa Japan. Looks like I’ll be taking a trip there later this summer to visit family. I could probably land one there “for science” if you like. They have great annual typhoons there. Not sure how well the unit will stand up to ~200 mph winds though
