What temperature/humidity sensor Tempest 26 uses & is ultrasonic improved?

I’m just curious to what sensor that Tempest 26 utilizes for temperature & humidity? I remember that the flagship model had the SHT-31 sensor. Also, is there any improvements to the ultrasonic anemometer? I’ve noticed underreporting wind speeds with the flagship model (which I think is due to the sensor not receiving a clean wind sample because of its design).

Nice to see that they are constantly working on improvements. This is a “Far Cry” from the old “Field Tester” devices of 2019!

Now. . .IF they would just pin the TIME of Occurrence of the daily Highs and Lows in the App and WebApp for: Temperature / RH / SLP / Wind / UV / Solar Radiation and Brightness. . .that would MAKE MY DAY (complete) ! ! !

Where is that online because I sure can’t find it ?

I see ‘Black Friday Early Access Sale! Get 15% Off Sitewide with Code NOVDEALS’ on Tempest Weather Station | Tempest but still cannot find any details about what exactly changed.

  • How much bigger is the solar
  • How much power will it grab
  • What are the specs on the battery ?

It’s under the old " . . . collections/all/products/tempest" URL.

Tempest Weather Station | Tempest then click on the second image from the left directly underneath the main image shown. (click image as needed to zoom and see it better.) Scroll down a little to see the “Tempest '26 is Here” banner under the top / main image.

The solar panels look to be exactly like the ones produced since first production. . .but May be about 1cm taller in height. . .comparing my “desk prop” to one of the images (but hard to get the full effect.)

Power grab. . .I have no idea. Not sure if battery will still be limited to ~ 2.80v max like the previous ones were . . .But supposedly. . .Now. . .the big Tout is "Redesigned charging system [I assume redesigned / better battery charge controller.] . . .and. . .“Now with a replaceable battery” That’s an improvement that everyone has been waiting Years for! We have all been plagued with that battery issue since Field Test days.

Specs: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0012/8512/8294/files/1025_Tempest_spec_sheet.pdf?v=1760379644 . . .however. . .this spec appears to be the one from at least about a year or more ago. It doesn’t mention anything about the max battery voltage capacity. . .and. . .at the bottom of the spec sheet. . .it shows a drawing of the previous “purple” Hub. . .which has now replaced with the smaller “low-profile hub.”

I have no idea what you are referring to here

Given the rest of your answer, my reading is that we have ‘no’ info really at this time. They can’t be “bigger solar panels” if they are not “bigger”. And so on. Sigh.

Perhaps an Engineer could jump in to fill us in on some details and answer a question or three. . .especially for those us who have been associated with WF | t° since the git go. . .back in 2018 to current time.

Here is a link to the picture within the standard weather station page; but its irrelevant as the unit being sold is the previous one according to the pictures. So despite saying its here it is unclear whether buying one currently would mean you get the new 26 version.

Confusion rains !!

Page not found. Not sure what happened

ABSOLUTELY - and does WF still have their previous customer discounts and the like. And of course, if you hypothetically bought a station today with the pre-black-friday discount, which variant would you get. Old or new ?

That link/page is probably geo-locked to the UK…

Thank you. I would love to see details and specs from engineering or beta testers if they are permitted to comment at this point.

it looks as if the height of the solar panel didn’t increase, but the body seems 8% wider (just measuring from picture dimensions). This might tell us that the solar panel is only 8% wider. Surely not enough for my region (53 degrees latitude, with long dull days during january).
