Tempest Complete System International Shipping Update

Yet another broken promise…

We sure did! We will be updating all backers outside of North America shortly, as we did switch to a new logistics partner so tracking info will come from DHL, not EasyShip.

Thank you for the info… What does “update soon” mean? More days? @WFstaff

Also to note with DHL you can download their app and it will notify you of packages getting delivered to you if you set up an account.

International shipping is going on but as you can imagine, a small company can’t send out a batch off 3000 units in 1 day
Even Apple yesterday messed it nicely with some software releases and they have the means …Weatherflow isn’t that big yet :innocent:

Just be patient, things are going out and tracking will come.

I have full confidence that I will receive my unit one day. I don’t really mind all the delays. I understand that there are challenges to overcome for a small team. Yes, life goes on, with or without me having my unit today.

But when will WF realize that COMMUNICATION is the key to all of this? You can’t make a promise, break it, and then “forget” to tell us until people start complaining. Over and over again. That is just wrong. Very wrong. Just be honest and you will get much more understanding from your customers.

Finally my Tempest arrived here in Austria and there where no taxes and duties to pay extra! Good job! I’m really looking forward to find a nice place on my roof and to integrate it into my smarthome system.

But one question, in the last update for backers (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/weatherflow/tempest-a-revolutionary-personal-weather-system/posts/3010763) there was an backup battery promised for the delay, unfortunately it wasn’t in the package. According to the comments on kickstarter other have this problem too.

Quite a few people over on the indiegogo campaign have complained that their packages have been opened by DHL and the batteries removed.

Yes, mine was also opened by DHL. Maybe the battery pack was not correctly declared for export?

My Tempest even came a day earlier today as announced.
The box was not opened by DHL, it was still sealed with the original WeatherFlow tape, only a sticker with a security check from DHL was stuck on.
I also didn’t have to do anything else.
No customs contact or additional fees. Unfortunately, the battery backup was not included with me either. WeatherFlow will surely comment on this, and it is not yet clear when the rest of the remote system will be delivered. https://tempestwx.com/station/32099/ Everything works…
I’m very happy…
Thanks to the whole @WeatherFlowTeam @WFstaff. Greetings from Berlin

Hi guys, I did receive my tempest today and I must say, well done! I did not compare any values or have any idea about the overall performance of the system yet but the unpacking and getting it to work for the first time worked out well!
However question to the quoted para above, what is this device exactly? USB rechargeable battery? Nothing was in my package at least…

Hi, have any UK based Indiegogo backers who didn’t select the expedited shipping option (i.e. waited for backup battery) received shipment notification yet?

Backerkit’s website was last updated November 9th, and shows my Tempest as not shipped. Shipments to the UK were supposed to start 6 days ago. Thanks.

Yesterday, November 23rd, the first tempest arrived to my son here in Italy, 2 days earlier than planned. We immediately installed it and it works perfectly.
Station ID 32642
Unfortunately there was no trace of the promised USB battery pack.
My tempest was shipped at the same time, the tracking was identical, but since yesterday my package is blocked in Verona (IT)…I don’t know the cause!
@WeatherFlowTeam

Edit: Just now I received the message that my tempest will be delivered today

Can the Tempest EU version currently be order anywhere?

Same thing here, my 2 tempest system and bird deterrent have been delivered to Italy. But no trace of the battery pack

Here in the Netherlands the same: my tempest system came yesterday and is all ready working. but not seeing / trace of the promised battery pack.

The battery pack is being shipped separately as DHL won’t transport the battery. Weatherflow already confirmed this, it won’t be with your Tempest shipment.

As far as I know this is not correct. It is not DHL who won’t transport the battery and the opened and reclosed parcels have been opened for security check only. But no, I do not know why each parcel has been opened at its own.

Weatherflow changed the process when switching the shipment from EasyShip to DHL. The bonus will ship directly from production in Shenzhen and I was given a link to select the bonus from the battery or a handheld WEATHERmeter. As I have several UPS in use at home I did a switch.

The bad is that the bonus orders will be collected and shipped in batches per continent and this may take some time…

I had read about DHL not shipping on an Indiegogo comment thread message which had been directly replied to by Weather flow without saying that it was incorrect.

Weatherflow’s communication about the Tempest schedule has been abysmal, resulting in everyone hunting around for up to date information. They can’t even learn a lesson about the Tempest dates and communicate clearly about the battery backup.

I have been patient because of covid, but sending timely email updates to customers is basic customer service.

The last email and Indiegogo update said UK shipment starting 17th November. 8 days later, what’s going on?

You are right, the communication with the Kickstarter project was, hmm, let’s call it less then minimal at the end.

After I received my Tempest last week, I complaint on the Kickstarter campaign site about the missing battery addon without getting any answer. I then wrote a mail to Weatherflow directly and this time I got an answer telling me what I wrote here. It sounds plausible, the link worked so I don’t see a reason to doubt the message.
