Weather Underground - Issues and Comments

Wasn’t expecting anything from WU actually. Agreed I posted, my station showed up on their network. Go figure.

I have contacted them on two separate occasions about the same issue and have never heard back from them. I wasn’t sure if it was because I am from Canada, or because my issue has to do with the wind and temperature graphics for my PWS not being shown correctly and not an important concern for them.

I’m a noobie at this. i was trying to link my device to weather underground. my question is this. what is and where can i find the Station Key?

https://community.tempest.earth/t/station-id-how-to-find-and-what-is-it-good-for/4276?u=peter

To be a little more precise, Station keys and Station ID are not the same .
But it the description peter linked, the WU station key is Schien as well: See the point “activate public access” in the last screenshot there is the "weather underground " mentioned and in that row you find the key.

i looked at the link and i still don’t see the key. but the id is there.

When you create a new PWS spot on Weather Underground, the station will be assigned a WU Station ID and Station key.
Sign in to your Weather Underground account and go to your devices: https://wunderground.com/member/devices
You should see the Station ID and Station Key listed for each device.
In the Smart Weather app, during manual setup to WU, enter the WU station ID and station key.

It looks like you’re all set with the WU connection!

Thanks for the help on this. Just got my station up and running yesterday. And had the :star: within a few minutes of setting up under a new station ID.

Yes I Have. I like It.

Our Sky unit has been up and linked to Weather Underground for about a month now. In the course of the past few days, we’ve FINALLY received some rain.

Problem: rain data is not uploading to WU. Everything else is loading - temp, wind speed/direction, humidity, UV - everything but precipitation.

I’ve checked all available settings for Sky from the app, and WU from web console. I don’t see any reason why that single data set is not uploading.

Anything obvious that I’ve missed?

thanks,

Under Settings | Station | (your station) | Public Data | Weather Underground:

Send Rain = 1

IIRC, the default was changed to 0 for new stations around the time that Rain Check went live, since WU does not have a facility to remove rainfall data to apply a rain check correction to the data…

Doh! How could I have missed that drop down level? It’s just an on/off slider on the version of app I have installed. Made the change, and now wait to see how long until data is available. Today’s total precip has uploaded - now we wait to see if historical data makes it over (which isn’t much - but measurable).

Thanks!

I just got my Air and Sky installed! I’m connected to the hub and WiFi, and going through the app.

I’m trying to connect to WU, but I’m stumped at how to find the “station key” – since I have no idea what it is.
After following the directions in a different post, I’ve discovered that apparently my “station ID” is “14600”.

Since I’m brand new to the app, please give me simple and basic instructions for locating my station key.

Thank you.

Carl

Carl,

You will need to sign up for Wunderground first and they will assign you a Station ID and Key.

So sign up at Wunderground.com and then enter the info in WeatherFlow app.

fyi - expect little in terms of quality of service from WU and ‘nothing’ in terms of response if you ever need to ask for help there. Their service is really spiralling downhill quickly.

Mostly I wanted to register to get the station I’d and key. It looks like I need an ID to share the data with family and with a friend. As far as WU goes, since it was so difficult to figure out how to register a station I assumed that they were not user friendly or helpful.

I’m just someone who has been fascinated by weather al life and have finally gotten my first weather station. I’m confident that As a newbie I’ll have other questions that are obvious once I know the answer

Carl

Thank you all for the excellent help!

If you have your SmartWeather station set to public all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the app and hit the share icon. It will give you a link you can share. For example, here is my station: https://smartweather.weatherflow.com/station/5075/grid

Note that the 5075 in the link is my WeatherFlow SW Station ID.

Thanks for the clarification between the WU station ID and the Weatherflow station ID. BTW, what does the “SW” stand for in “Weather SW Station ID”? Is it “SoftWare”?

My Weatherflow station ID is 14600.

WU station ID is KIDIDAHO421.
